Freedom's Just Another Word for . . . North America

Mitt Romney's "Reagan Zone of Economic Freedom"—pictured somewhat differently than it is on Romney's site:

Compare. Choice of graphs really do make a difference!

UPDATE: As I look at it now, I realize: It's an excellent starting hand in RISK! The Game of World Domination. You can't beat that +2 power battery from Oceania. Maybe the Mitt is onto something. . . .

Depends on the goal of the map. If the goal is to show financial strength, South Korea would need to be the same size as Canada. Its economy is slightly larger than Mexico's, 1.5 times as large as Australia's, and almost twice as large as Chile, Peru and Colombia's combined. You wouldn't know this from either your map or Romney's, but at least with Romney's map South Korea is more than a footnote. Israel and Singapore each has a GDP just outside the top 50, but a GDP per capita inside the top 20. Population size might be another interesting criterion to show, or maybe GDP per capita, but geographic size is arguably a step backward. From a national-pride point of view, it even gives, say, Hondurans as much pride as South Koreans. I thought liberals were all about self-esteem.

(P.S. Just adding a little smiley-face to the comment above, in case anyone reads it and thinks I'm tryin to be all pissy about something. I was "just sayin," as those kids today say. Just sayin!)
