For anyone who cares to know, the show was very great. My friend described the opening band (Elliott Levin) as Ornette Coleman with Frank Zappa breaks—something like that. It was nice to hear a good Conn tenor horn. Then Usaisa tore it up with a pounding march of eighth note–based heavy riffs.
