Sentimeta

I forget that this blog isn't merely a web screen that I occasionally complain at, but also something a few people read. It's a surprise when, in real life (IRL), people say something like, "I was going to invite you to the baseball game [or whatever], but then, I read your blog; sorry about your news." And on the other hand, it's sometimes easy to forget that posting something on a vanity site doesn't count as conversation, especially with friends who don't read these things. Okay. Point being, thanks for kind wishes and thoughts, all. (And take me out to the ball game!) Should anything come up, I'll update.

'Grammar Police' is a great name for a site but, in order to uphold it, it may be wise to refrain from ending phrases with prepositions. To this end, I suggest altering the sentence "I forget that this blog isn't merely a web screen that I occasionally complain at..." to read "I forget that this blog isn't merely a web screen at which I occasionally complain..."

Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.

There's nothing wrong with ending sentences with prepositions, as everyone ought to have learned long ago.

What the unnamed person is saying is that he's disturbed by

"the Blog, that those words were frighted from"

Or something. BTW, kind wishes, Mr. Capps.

There's nothing wrong with ending sentences with prepositions, especially when the purported awkwardness of doing so can be leveraged to comedic effect, which I hoped to do (if not to especially hilarious effect) with the use of "complain at" instead of "complain to." Not especially funny. But still proper.

Thanks, arthegall.

Maybe "in the general direction of which I complain" would be more acceptable to the nameless commenter. Probably not.

More importantly: all the best, Kriston.
