I sincerely hope that The Willie Mae Rock and Roll Camp for Girls is funded by our tax dollars—I want to believe that we all had a hand in this.
"The Pink Slips." Fantastic. Eyeball Skeleton had better watch their backs.

UPDATE: It is crucial that you listen to The Bookworms' "The World Is Becoming a Wasteland." More stuff here.

Posted by: Kriston at August 17, 2005 1:21 PMHello,
I am hosting the second show at the BARN BARNACLE this Saturday, August 20th at 7:00 pm. The BARN BARNACLE is a studio/performance/exhibition/garage space located in the alley at 1307 Longfellow Street NW (between 13th and 14th). On Saturday Videohippos will be performing.
Thank you, Jason
So cool that you blogged on this. Greg and I have agreed that if we ever have a girl who wants to rock out, we're shipping her ass off to such a camp, no questions asked.
Fist one was in Portland, BTW.
Posted by: sarah at August 18, 2005 2:18 AMAny daughter living under my roof will rock out whether she wants to or not!
Jason: Thanks for the note. I read about it elsewhere, too. I'm tied up that night, but let me know next time.
Posted by: Kriston at August 18, 2005 7:38 AMHey thanks for posting my photo. I have a few more photos from that show here if interested:

This summer, her camp band was That One Band. Girls need more things like RRC4G. It is truly an empowering thing.
Posted by: Freedom Girl at August 26, 2005 12:14 PMThere is the Young Women Drumming Empowerment Project- a slightly different project, but with the goal of empowering young women in DC through drumming, poetry/spoken word and performance. Check out their site for more information: www.youngwomendrum.org
They have upcoming performances in September at DCAC.
Posted by: AAS at August 26, 2005 3:42 PMFreedom Girl: Cool!
AAS: See, that sounds like drum circles—totally different. I can't get behind that. Double bass drums, sí! Double bongos, not so much.
