OK, not really really. That's Missy Elliot. We're still bootleg over here. Regardless I've gone all Josh Marshall with the banner pic and changed the subtitle to boot, so now's your chance to tell me how the site is now too shrill to be credible, way far out of the mainstream, lying about the Koufax Awards it's earned, and inextricably linked to Dan "I'd" Rather "Be Lying to You About Some Shit." Tell me about the good old Blogspot days when you got the policy, art, and rhetoric you could trust. Back when grammar was grammar, and police were police.
While you're busy delinking me, be sure to acknowledge the inestimable Justin for helping me out, and let me know if this is showing up okay in your browser. You horrible, horrible people, you.
Posted by Kriston at September 23, 2004 2:28 AMI still see the old banner in Safari, and that bottom, f'ed up grey border shows up in Firefox and IE. But, you know, I know what I look like.
Posted by: Kriston at September 23, 2004 2:34 AMwoo! looks hot, and works in my browser (ie 6). are you still supposed to have the red stripey border, or just the gray one?
Posted by: catherine at September 23, 2004 8:22 AMPlay "(She Was A) Hotel Detective"!
Posted by: norbizness at September 23, 2004 9:11 AMthe image has both a grey and red stripe
Posted by: Justin at September 23, 2004 9:37 AM"how" people are talking about?
The picture rocks, much better than the "look at me, I can write my name in the snow when I pee" picture. You probably don't need the "red stripey border" anymore.
Anyway, HAAAAAAAHN!
Posted by: j.scott barnard at September 23, 2004 10:13 AMDear G.p readers,
The "red stripey thing" hates/loves you as much as you hate/love it.
eat me/love you,
The Red Stripey Thing.

Posted by: Kevin at September 23, 2004 10:32 AMThere is no reason this shouldn't work in any browser. There was no change to the css or html. All I did was replace the header gif.
Posted by: Justin at September 23, 2004 11:03 AMWhen I checked this morning it worked in all my browsers. Probably I was just drunk last night.
. . . well, definitely I was drunk last night, and probably that was the problem.
Posted by: Kriston at September 23, 2004 11:07 AMfor the record on the peeing in the snow picture, it was more legible (visually, anyway) if you saw the whole thing, in which capps was pointing to a DC subway map and yglesias' blurred face was falling out of the left-hand frame.
...anyways... where'd you get this photo, capps? i like it, especially in B&W. although, it does seem a little serious. i've got a picture of you that i think you should post in that space once or twice a month, whenever you want to lighten G.p up a bit... i'll try to get that to you in the next day or so.
Posted by: matty at September 23, 2004 1:06 PMIf it's the Soviet picture from the KART house I'll (ask Justin to) put it up right now.
As for the pic, I took it, I was trying to figure out one of my camera's settings or something and it came out all Friendster-y.
Posted by: Kriston at September 23, 2004 1:19 PMrandomly rotating images in the banner... eh? eh?
or we could just preload some to pop up as easter eggs on set dates, ala google
Posted by: tom at September 23, 2004 1:36 PMP.S. "Red Stripe . . . Hooray Bars" is astonishingly funny.
Posted by: Kriston at September 23, 2004 2:35 PMI do what I can.
Posted by: Red Stripe . . . Hooray Bars at September 23, 2004 3:24 PMwell, the KART house picture was one i had in mind. i will burn it (them) to CD tonight and e-mail them to justin tomorrow.
and as for a rotating, randomly selected banner, how hard is that to set up? i think i'd like something like that when i redesign mr. wright.
or do people generally not like that? how important is consistent branding in a blog?
Posted by: matty at September 23, 2004 5:00 PMNot that we don't love staring at a constellation of Kriston images, but I imagine you might get some flak for featuring a kaleidescope of photos of yourself. Well, I'd tease you anyway.
Posted by: susan at September 23, 2004 5:11 PMI vote for a kaleidescoping constellation of Kriston images on Matty's blog.
Posted by: Kriston at September 23, 2004 5:42 PMI still see the old banner! What gives?
Posted by: David at September 23, 2004 6:20 PMwell, the images wouldn't necessarily be of me. not that i don't have more than enough self-portraits to make that work, but i just meant in general.
and if we're going to put up a picture of kriston on my banner, it's going to be the one that everyone says makes his look "special."
Posted by: matty at September 23, 2004 6:30 PM...makes HIM look "special," i meant.
Posted by: matty at September 23, 2004 6:31 PMCorrection: I see the old banner on IE and the new on Firefox. The new picture is much better. No more snow peeing, thank you. The new slogan - I get it. Beautiful.
Posted by: David at September 23, 2004 6:36 PMin IE hit CTRL F5 and see if it fixes the problem
Posted by: Justin at September 23, 2004 7:16 PMThe picture reminds me of Reservoir Dogs.
Posted by: Dimmy Karras at September 23, 2004 9:14 PMCTRL F5 worked! Now both of my browsers see a shiny new Capps! Good call Justin, and nice work!
Posted by: David at September 23, 2004 9:25 PM-1000 blog scene points for making your only post of the day about your new photo. this isnt friendster or myspace.
Posted by: Justin at September 24, 2004 1:59 AMbah, it was only 1/3rd of the day's post. Has anyone told you that you like somewhat like Jon Safran?
Posted by: Justin at September 24, 2004 7:15 AMOK, slow on the up, I think I get the "how" now...brown cow. --s
Posted by: j.scott barnard at September 24, 2004 10:27 AMNice suit, Capps. Did they let photographgers into your arraignment?
